It’s Time For Kids is a non-profit, public benefit corporation dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk youth by enabling them to enjoy trips to theme parks, sports activities, sporting events, theater and other recreational and cultural activities.

History

Established in 1997, It’s Time For Kids was formed to provide cultural, educational and recreational events for children in foster and group homes in Los Angeles County. There are approximately 50,000 children in foster care in Los Angeles County, more than any other county in the nation. Due to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, the program has expanded from one event per month to four to eight events per month. The children we serve has increased to include all regions of the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services, Latina Family Preservation, Adoptions Division, gang intervention programs, probation programs and many group homes. We also include children from Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. In our five-year history, we have provided thousands of children with activities that they would not otherwise have had the opportunity to experience.

Goals

The goal of It’s Time For Kids is to promote the healthy emotional development of at-risk youth, develop their social skills and create dreams for their futures. At our events, we re-unite siblings who have been separated into different homes. The program is also designed to enable social workers and group home directors to utilize the events as incentives to encourage positive behavior.
